National League Cubs Extend Undefeated Streak with win over Rockies

6-11-09, Weston- The Weston Little League National League Cubs defeated the Rockies 18-0, last Thursday at Burchard Park. The win extends the Cubs undefeated season, giving them sole possession of first place, with a 13-0 record, in the race for the National League Championship. The Cubs jumped out to a quick start, going up 2-0 in the first, on a lead-off double by Cub Robert Ivey and a Seve Tocci walk to first.

National League Cardinals Defeat Braves In Dramatic Come From Behind Victory

6-14-09, Weston,- The National League Cardinals beat the Braves 10-9 in a fifth and six inning come from behind rally, to knock the Braves out of second place in the National League championship race.
"I thought we played amazing, best game of the season." said Cardinal Max Barsamian. "We came back and scored six runs in one inning so I think we did great."

National League Rockies Clinch Championship Berth With Win Against Mets

6-14-09, Weston- With a little help from the National League Cardinals, the Cubs, and their win against the Mets on Sunday, the Rockies clinched a championship berth in this Saturday's big showdown. The Rockies defeated the Mets 11-4 at Burchard Park in a must win situation to continue their little league season.

Wildcat Of The Week: Weston's Erika Lamere

6-11-09, Weston- When 12 year-old Weston resident Erika Lamere is playing little league baseball, you can easily mistake her for another one of the boys. But the fact that she blends in amongst her little league peers, despite the long blond pony tail that hangs down from the back of her baseball cap, is what sets Erika apart from the rest. Erika is not just one of the boys. She is currently the only girl playing in Weston Little League Nation League baseball.

Wildcat World Blog: This Chick Rox!
 Meet 33 year-old Justine Siegal, and as far as anyone can tell, she is the first female coach in men's professional baseball. How cool is that???
Justine is the first base coach for the
Brockton Rox, an independent minor league baseball team based in Brockton, MA. Siegal, who joined the team last month, was a former pitcher and third baseman who is also married and the mother of an 11 year-old daughter.

Wildcat Varsity Baseball Closes 2009 Season With Pride
Wildcat Varsity Baseball Seniors Joe Dell'Erario, Jeff Gilchrist, Ryan Hedges, Russ Becker, Sahil Bloom, Eddie Blum, Johnny Young, Scott Scarpato, Reed Chapman.
6-1-09, Weston- For the 9 graduating seniors on the Weston High Varsity Baseball team, Monday's 8-2 loss to Georgetown marked not only the end of the DCL Small Co-Champions run in the state tournament, but also their last game played for Weston High.
"It's hard because we are all best of friends," said Senior Scott Scarpato. "Baseball was our time of day to hang out and see each other. We are more than just a team."

Wildcat Girls Varsity Lacrosse Wins in Semi-Final, Then Takes Second Place In Division Final

6-4-09, Weston- Last Tuesday, the Wildcat Girls Varsity lacrosse team defeated their opponent, Pentucket in the MIAA Division 2 North semi-finals, 18-12. In the decisive win, the Wildcats characteristically handled the game as a team.
"Im really glad that this was a total team effort," said Head Coach Kelly Trahon.

Boys Varsity Tennis Takes Second Place In MIAA Division 3 North Sectional Final

6-6-09, Weston- Wildcat Boys Varsity Tennis Coach Chris White told his team at the start of the season,"I wanted them to enjoy being a member of the varsity team and that the team philosophy would be, 'learn a little, laugh a lot'," he said. Laugh and learn the Wildcats did, as they took their tournament run all the way to the MIAA Division 3 North Finals.

Wildcat Of The Week: Weston High Senior Cyana Chilton
Wildcat Cyana Chilton
6-3-09, Weston- 18 year-old Cyana Chilton, starting goalie for the Wildcats Girls Lacrosse team, never played a moment of Weston Youth Lacrosse growing up. She decided in her freshman year she was going to try out for the freshman lacrosse team so she could play with her friends and figured goal tending would be her ticket on to the team since there is usually a shortage of goalies.
